03 Jul Inspired by The Arughat Support Fund Charity
Going Above & Beyond
We were completely inspired from the story of Nick and Caroline Cowan; they really showed us how to make the world a better place.
Nick is a GP and Caroline is a primary school teacher from Cockermouth, Cumbria who have both enjoyed trekking in Nepal. When their Nepali friends and trekking guides invited them to carry out voluntary work, they said yes without giving it much thought. Before they knew it , they became part of the community in rural Nepal and were providing high quality healthcare and teaching for the medical and paramedical staff at Arughat Hospital.
After the devastating earthquake last year in Nepal where the epicentre was only 6 miles from Arughat, they raised funding for emergency food aid to the community and organised a health camp in one of the nearby villages.
They have since established The Arughat Support Fund as an official charity and have funded the rebuilding of the primary school in Khatriswara, which was ruined in the quake. Children should be moving out of their temporary classroom and into the new school very soon!
To help further their cause we helped create a website that showcases the fantastic work they have achieved and has the ability to allow donations. They are currently fundraising for a new Ultrasound Scanner for the Arughat Hospital.
Take some time and check out the amazing work they do and donate if you can!
